Fetching the latest fire danger and ban data.
We built Fireban.com.au to give Australians a single, consistent source of truth for fire bans and danger ratings—nationwide.
If you have ever driven a caravan from Queensland to Victoria, you know the frustration. In one state, a 'Total Fire Ban' means one thing; cross the border, and the terminology, the websites, and the rules change completely.
For travelers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts, this inconsistency isn't just annoying—it's dangerous. Trying to find simple answers like "Can I light a fire tonight?" or "Is this road safe?" often meant checking three different government websites and navigating complex PDF maps.
We realized that while Australia has incredible emergency services, there was no single platform that stitched all that vital intelligence together into one effortless experience.
So, we built it.
Interactive National Fire Map
Fireban.com.au was designed with one goal: Consistency.
We aggregate live data from over 20 different official government sources—including the RFS, CFA, DFES, and the Bureau of Meteorology—and standardize it into a single, unified interface.
Whether you are in the Perth Hills or the Blue Mountains, our map works exactly the same way. No more guessing. No more switching apps. Just real-time, location-based safety intelligence.
We constantly monitor official RSS feeds and data APIs from every state and territory emergency service.
Our systems process thousands of updates every hour to ensure that when a ban is declared, you know about it.
We align all data to the new Australian Fire Danger Rating System (AFDRS), giving you a clear, colour-coded view of risk regardless of your location.
Trust & Liability
Fireban.com.au is a proudly Australian-owned initiative. However, we are an information aggregator, not an emergency service.
While we work tirelessly to ensure our data is accurate and fast, technology can have delays. We always urge our users to:
Conditions can change in seconds.
Always cross-reference with your local official state broadcaster (e.g., ABC Radio) or emergency app.
Never wait for a website notification if you see smoke or feel unsafe.
We are a team of tech professionals and outdoor enthusiasts based on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. We understand the importance of a good campfire, but we respect the power of the Australian bush even more.
Thank you for trusting us on your journey. Stay safe.
