Fetching the latest fire danger and ban data.
How we research, verify, and maintain Australia's fire restriction rules.
All 214 rules across 8 states and territories were individually researched against official government and fire authority sources. Each rule was classified by evidence strength, and any claim that conflicted with official text was corrected before publication.
Each state's primary fire authority, enabling legislation, and official web pages were identified as the canonical reference. We use only government and statutory authority sources — no third-party summaries.
Every rule claim was checked against official source text. Claims were classified as: Supported by Authority, Partial Match, Contradicted by Authority, No Official Rule Found, or Advisory/Non-Regulatory.
All contradicted or unsupported claims were rewritten to match the closest verifiable official guidance. Where certainty could not be established, conditional language was applied to avoid overstating restrictions.
Rules are reviewed when official sources update their guidance. Fire legislation can change with little notice — always verify with your local fire authority before lighting any fire.
These are the official government and legislative sources consulted for each jurisdiction.
